Where did “Danique” originate from?

We're David and Monique, the owners of Danique: Beauty and the Beans. We initially started our businesses separately—David focused on roasting coffee and making bean-to-bar chocolate, while Monique dedicated her time to creating cold-process soaps and lotions. After realizing that we worked better together, we merged our passions to form Danique: Beauty and the Beans, a blend of our names DAvid and moNIQUE. We often say, "Monique is the Beauty, and David is the Beans.

Monique began making soap as a way to combat eczema. Over-the-counter products just didn't suffice, so she researched, experimented, and tested numerous formulas before perfecting her triple butter soap recipe. Utilizing a blend of cocoa butter, shea butter, and mango butter, along with a base of olive oil, she has perfected a recipe that produces a hard, bubbly bar of soap that won't leave your skin dry.

She applied the same dedication to her body butters and lotions, even consulting a chemist to ensure they are stable and balanced. The result is a line of non-greasy, nourishing products that your skin will love.

David began roasting coffee to ensure we always enjoyed our coffee. He noticed that too often, commercial coffee roasters over-roast their beans, leaving a burnt taste. We prefer to savor the natural flavor of the beans. A few years later, he ventured into chocolate making and found the process even more rewarding than coffee roasting. With both products, our goal is to deliver quality that showcases the wonderful natural flavors of their respective beans.
